Acoustic Foam for
Top Notch Sound Absorption

Polymer Product Solutions

One of Polymer Technologies’ staple product lines is our absorption materials. Polymer Technologies has been producing top quality sound absorption foam since its creation, and we continue to strive to find unique absorption techniques and materials that will expand our capabilities of absorbing noise, heat, and vibrations. We currently offer a variety of absorption materials including our proprietary POLYDAMP® acoustical foams, melamine and hydrophobic melamine foam insulation.

Let our experienced team of engineers design a custom, sound absorbing foam solution for your most complex problem. There is virtually no limit to the new solutions we can create to solve your noise problem.

Our engineers will dissect your problems and develop an unparalleled solution.

Below is a sampling of our acoustic foam materials:

POLYDAMP® Acoustical Foam (PAF)

POLYDAMP® Acoustical Foam (PAF) is an acoustical grade, open cell, flexible ether-based urethane foam designed to give maximum sound absorption per given thickness. Ether foams offer excellent resistance to heat, moisture, and chemicals while being hydrolytically stable.

Acoustic Foam
  • Density:  1.8lb/ft³
  • Temperature Range: continuous -45°F to +212°F; intermittent to 250°F
  • Flammability: UL94 - HF-1 Listed
  • Available with a wide variety of film facings and pressure sensitive adhesives

Applications typically include equipment engine compartments, power generation, and construction equipment.

POLYDAMP® Acoustical Foam - Ester Type (PAFS)

POLYDAMP®Acoustical Foam (PAFS) is an open cell, flexible polyester based acoustical grade, polyurethane foam designed to give maximum sound absorption per given thickness. Ester foams have superior physical properties and offer excellent resistance to heat, moisture, and chemicals.

Polyurethane Acoustical Foam
  • Density:  2.0lb/ft³
  • Temperature Range:  continuous -45°F to +212°F; intermittent to +250°F
  • Flammability:  UL94 - HF-1 Listed
  • Available with a wide variety of film facings and pressure sensitive adhesives

Applications typically include medical equipment, business equipment, and equipment cab compartments.

POLYDAMP® Melamine Foam (PMF)

POLYDAMP® Melamine Foam (PMF) is an extremely lightweight insulation material that exhibits exceptional resistance to heat, low flame propagation, and smoke. It possesses excellent thermal and acoustical insulation properties.

Melamine Foam for Acoustical Insulation
  • Density: 0.56 lbs/ft³
  • Temperature Range: continuous -300°F to +356°F; intermittent to +492°F
  • Thermal Conductivity: 0.25 BTU-in/ft²-hr-°F at 68°F
  • UL94 V-0 listed
  • Meets aircraft, HVAC, and transportation vehicle’s flame, smoke, and toxicity standards
  • Resilient to vibration and compression set
  • Available with a wide variety of film facings and pressure sensitive adhesives

Applications typically range from HVAC and ECS ducts to wall/fuselage insulation in aircraft, as well as power generation and mass transit.

POLYDAMP® Hydrophobic Melamine Foam (PHM)

POLYDAMP® Hydrophobic Melamine Foam (PHM) is an enhanced version of PMF, offering exceptional water-resistance properties, previously unattainable with standard melamine foam, while maintaining all other key attributes. This melamine acoustic foam floats indefinitely in water; water streams bead-up on the surface and roll-off.

Hydrophobic Foam
  • Density: 0.56 lbs/ft³
  • Temperature Range: continuous -300°F to +356°F; intermittent to +492°F
  • Thermal Conductivity: 0.25 BTU-in/ft²-hr-°F at 68°F
  • UL94 V-0 listed
  • Meets aircraft (FAA, BSS, etc), HVAC, and transportation vehicle’s flame, smoke, and toxicity standards
  • Resilient to vibration and compression set (unlike solimide/polyimide foam and fiberglass)
  • Facings available: Metalized PVF and PEEK films (Aircraft approved), Reinforced Aluminum Foil, and others
  • Fire-retardant and standard pressure sensitive adhesives also available for easy installation

Applications typically range from HVAC and ECS ducts to wall/fuselage insulation in aircraft, mass transit, and many others.

POLYDAMP® Melamine Foam Ultra-Flex (PMF-UF)

POLYDAMP® Ultra-Flex Melamine Foam (PMF-UF) is an extremely lightweight material that exhibits exceptional resistance to heat, low flame propagation, and smoke.  Differentiating it from standard POLYDAMP® Melamine Foam, its flexibility and resilient nature enables its use in cushioning and other applications where more durable attributes are required.

Melamine Foam
  • Density: 0.44 lbs/ft³
  • Temperature Range: continuous -300°F to +356°F; intermittent to 492°F
  • Tensile Strength: 13.0 lb/in2 min
  • Compression Set: 10% max
  • Thermal Conductivity: 0.25 BTU-in/ft²-hr-°F at 68°F

Applications typically range from HVAC and ECS ducts to wall/fuselage insulation in aircraft, mass transit, and many others.

POLYDAMP® Hydrophobic Melamine Ultra-Flex Foam (PHM-UF)

POLYDAMP® Ultra-Flex Hydrophobic Melamine Foam (PHM-UF) is an extremely lightweight and water resistant material which exhibits exceptional resistance to heat, low flame propagation, and smoke. Our ultra-flex hydrophobic melamine foam has all the same properties of the ultra-flex melamine foam (listed above) with the added benefit of being water resistant.

Hydrophobic Foam
  • Density: 0.44 lbs/ft³
  • Temperature Range: continuous -300°F to +356°F; intermittent to +492°F
  • Tensile Strength: 20.0 lb/in2 min
  • Compression Set: 10% max
  • Thermal Conductivity: 0.25 BTU-in/ft²-hr-°F at 68°F

Applications typically range from HVAC and ECS ducts to wall/fuselage insulation in aircraft, mass transit, and many others.

POLYDAMP® Melamine Foam Ultra-Lite (PMF-UL)

POLYDAMP® Melamine Foam ULTRA_LITE (PMFUL) is a 40% lower weight version of regular PMF, a material which exhibits exceptional resistance to heat, low flame propagation and smoke.  It does not drip in the presence of a flame and stops burning after removal of any external ignition source and fuel.

  • Density:  0.375 lbs/ft³,
  • Temperature Range: continuous -300°F to +392°F; intermittent to +492°F
  • Tensile Strength:  13 lb/in2 min
  • Thermal Conductivity: 0.25 BTU-in/hr ft²-hr-°F at 68°F

Applications typically range from aircraft, aerospace applications where high heat resistance, low flame spread and smoke are requirements.

POLYDAMP® Hydrophobic Melamine Foam Ultra-Lite (PHM-UL)

POLYDAMP® Ultra-Lite Hydrophobic Melamine Foam (PHM-UL) foam is a lightweight version of standard PHM, offering a roughly 40% reduction in density while continuing to exhibit the same exceptional resistance to heat and water, flame propagation, smoke generation, and toxicity.

  • Normal Density 0.375 lbs/ft³
  • Temperature Range: continuous -300°F to +356°F; intermittent to +492°F
  • Thermal Conductivity: 0.25 btu-in/ft²-hr-°F at 68°F
