COVID-19 Business Continuity Plan
Polymer Technologies Inc.
Updated: April 14, 2020
Update Notes: See Workforce Continuity Planning section as Polymer Technologies Inc.'s Polymer Molded Products (PMP), New Jersey location, shut down briefly from April 8th until April 13th. We reopened on April 14th to ship finished goods, and production will start up again by Monday, April 20th. Polymer Technologies Inc.'s Delaware location is now practicing a rotational shelter-in-place program.
On March 19, 2020 the U.S. Department of Homeland Security released the "MEMORANDUM ON IDENTIFICATION OF ESSENTIAL CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE WORKERS DURING COVID-19 RESPONSE" signed by Christopher C. Krebs the Director of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
Polymer Technologies Inc. manufactures products that are critical to sustaining the infrastructure that supports the life of all those who are and will be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Polymer Technologies is categorized as an "Essential to Critical Infrastructure Manufacturer". In the event of a mandatory shutdown of all businesses except those deemed essential, we will remain open to continue producing the critical parts that we supply to our many customers who are creating the life-saving products that will support the world through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The below actions have been taken to ensure our business continuity.
Employee Health and Safety Guidelines
Our COVID-19 guidelines have been executed throughout all divisions and will be updated as required to ensure accordance with best practices.
Supply Chain Assurance
All suppliers have been formally notified of their responsibility to continue to supply Polymer Technologies, Inc. per U.S. Department of Homeland Security and where necessary business continuity plans have been requested.
Local and State Outreach
Polymer Technologies Inc. is currently in contact with local and state legislatures to ensure they understand our position as an Essential to Critical Infrastructure Manufacturer.
Workforce Continuity Planning
All of our employees have received "Essential to Critical Infrastructure Worker" Identification Cards to support their commute to and from work.
Implementation of our COVID-19 Response Plan has begun at our Polymer Molded Products division located in Bound Brook, N.J. due to several associates testing positive for COVID-19. The facility closed from Wednesday, April 8th until Tuesday, April 14th. Sanitization was completed and employee health screening began when we reopened. The week of April 14th, PMP will ship only available parts from finished goods inventory. Our plan is to begin production by Monday April 20th at a reduced production rate as some production associates will remain in quarantine as they recover from the COVID-19 illness; our prayers are with those associates. Production fulfillment will prioritize producing parts for those customers who are building life sustaining equipment, followed by regularly scheduled production orders. Customers will be notified by Polymer's Customer Service team if their schedule will be impacted.
In our Newark, Del. location we are now experimenting with a shelter-in-place program which consists of rotating 20% of our production work force by having them remain at home for weekly shifts, while their pay remains intact. This supports our efforts in social distancing while also promoting the sustainability of our production requirements throughout this pandemic. The reduction in workforce may have some impact on our ability to meet customer schedules. Customers will be notified by Polymer's Customer Service team if their schedule will be impacted.
Gap analysis and cross training continue to be executed to further ensure workforce continuity.
Our business continuity plan will be updated as this fluid situation evolves, and we continue to learn how to survive through the COVID-19 pandemic.
